FAQ
From the context of over a hundred years of mass produced furniture, my thesis work explores the definition of originality, typicality, experience, perception and the sense that people often share from cultural accumulation. “FAQ” is a wooden folding chair inspired by the anonymous, inexpensive metal folding chair. By transferring the material from tubular steel to wood, the chair obtains distinctive details, durability and familiarity, yet it is still something people have never seen. All components are produced using the same laminated form, creating efficiency in the manufacturing process. This idea of elevating the ordinary object to extraordinary provides a more comfortable relationship between people and the industrial object.
